In crowdfunding the term campaign is often used to describe the short-term activity of attracting funders. This is applicable to all models in the project finance path. But the term itself can be a little bit misleading. Most people probably think of a political, marketing or military campaign, rather than a crowdfunding campaign.
In order to define what we mean by a ‘campaign’ in this context we can turn to Alan Barnard and Chris Parker, two political campaign veterans, who offer the following concise definition:
“(A campaign is) a planned sequence of communications that makes use of all appropriate channels to achieve defined outcomes in a specific timeframe by influencing the decision–makers who will allow success.”18
