Conducting a Site Survey

In this chapter, you will learn about

•   Visiting construction sites

•   Observing and documenting site conditions

•   Interpreting blueprints, site plans, and computer-aided design (CAD) drawings

•   Calculating areas and volumes of installation spaces

Visiting the client site is a key step in the audiovisual (AV) system design and installation process. A site survey is your opportunity to meet with clients, discuss their AV support needs, and review the characteristics of the various locations where AV systems will be installed. Your objective is to collect as much information as possible about the space you will be working in to provide a basis for creating your system proposal.
