The Shingo Institute has been conducting site visits and administering the Shingo Prize for almost four decades. In that time, they have learned many lessons about how to conduct a good assessment as well as what a world-class organization looks like. The assessment process itself consists of numerous distinct stages and can involve hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of work to prepare the site, write an achievement report, and host a site visit.
