Often, cultures reveal themselves in situations where much is at stake, like college admission. Interactions are shaped by deeply held cultural attitudes toward work, power, trust, wealth, and communication and can shape views on such things as ethics, grades and tests, extracurricular involvement, choosing a major, failure, mental health, relationships, socioeconomic factors, and family influence. The chapters in this part of the book are not meant to be a how-to guide for school/college counselors on the components of the admissions process, which would require its own dedicated space.
