There’s a famous proverb about putting a frog in a pot of boiling water. If you try to just toss him in an already boiling pot, he jumps out. But if you put the same frog in cold water and turn up the heat slowly he slowly boils to death. Which makes one wonder: why aren’t brands jumping out of the pot? After all, it’s pretty darn clear that the good old days when money and media reach ruled the world are over.

Just take a look at who is on the rise. Craig Newmark, who founded Craigslist, has now taken away from newspapers their one sure profit center, the classified ads.
