Chapter 22Don’t Feed the Gators
The contrasting beauty and ugliness we experienced in Marco Island continued to occupy our minds as we traveled, but setting world politics aside for a moment to focus on our boating experience, Smokehouse Bay was a compelling destination. The anchorage had excellent services close by. We took the dinghy to a local grocery store and loaded up with provisions for our short journey through the Everglades and to the Keys. (Yes, the grocery store had a dinghy dock!) We also stocked up on parts for the next few oil changes. We dropped off the dog, the parts, and the groceries at the boat and headed out once again to the great burgee hunt.
