Many people will be able to identify with Victor Kaifas’s first experience of collage: ‘When I was young I defaced mum and dad’s newspapers with pens, tape and scissors. Lots of women with Chinese hats and long whiskers’, but he soon graduated to stronger stuff. Drawn to old Hollywood glamour, tribal Africa and skinheads, he admits to feeling ‘more like a taxidermist as time goes by – I seem to tart up the dead’.
