Mexican-born, Miami-based Pepe Mar’s vigorous ‘fetishistic tribal mechanical’ techno-influenced cut-and-paste work is full of acid colours, sharp edges, and patterns and textures taken from beer and soft drinks packaging. He likens the process of making his pieces to that of making music using a sampler: ‘I think everything will be collage in the future, the same way music is becoming about sampling different beats.
