Javier Piñón’s sophisticated collages have an almost otherworldly quality, which stems from his passion for mythology: ‘I am a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi. That interest has always influenced the subject matter in my work, from the minotaurs to the medusas.’ While the narrative may not have changed, over time his work has become increasingly complicated. He likens making a collage to finishing a jigsaw: ‘The puzzle pieces continually move and shift until it just clicks and I know it’s right.
