This step is usually a direct result of a Critical Incident. An employee’s level of engagement may increase (and continue increasing over time) depending on the Critical Incident. It’s a step where the employee sees ample career development, lateral movements, role changes, function changes, knowledge acquisition, vertical movements, stretch assignments, special projects, job rotations, cross-training opportunities, and special assignments.
