Starting Work on Darkanoid (Your First Complete Game Project)

You have come a long way in your study of DarkBASIC as we are now nearing the end of Chapter 10. It’s time to put all of the knowledge gained in the last ten chapters to work in a complete game. Rather than build this game entirely in one chapter, we will just get started on it for now, and you will see the game expand and develop over the next four chapters. This game was inspired by classics such as Breakout and Arkanoid, and is known as a typical “ball-and-paddle” style game. Figure 10.5 shows the first step taken in this chapter toward building this complete game.
