It is actually much easier to apply this procedure by inspecting a determinancy
diagram than to follow a verbal description. In Fig. 6.10, salespersonNo is a non-
identifying determinant, so create a new table which contains salespersonNo as its
identifier and the attribute(s) directly dependent on salespersonNo, namely
salespersonName. This leaves in the old table the identifier, customerNo, and its
directly dependent attribute(s), salespersonNo. The resulting tables are shown in Fig.
6.12. Notice that salespersonNo forms the link between the tables, and that each of the
new tables is well-normalised.
