Chapter 1 Data Modeling Primer

This chapter will provide a brief overview of data model components including how to read a data model. For more content, please refer to my book Data Modeling Made Simple.


An entity represents a collection of information about something that the business deems important and worthy of capture. Each entity is identified by a noun or noun phrase, and it fits into one of six categories: who, what, when, where, why, or how.
