Using Naming Standards in a Model
Now that we’ve created our Glossary, let’s use this Glossary to enforce naming standards in our model. To ensure consistency in our organization, a key requirement we have is to use a standardized naming convention for logical and physical object names. As we discussed earlier, if objects are named differently across projects, it is difficult to get a consistent view of information.
First, create a Logical/Physical model with a target database of SQL Server 2008 (for help on how to create a model, refer to Chapter 3). Once your model is created, select Actions|Model Naming Options from the Main Menu. The Model Naming Options Editor appears, shown in Figure 12.8.
