Now that you are comfortable reading relationships, you can read relationships in any data modeling notation. There are a number of different data modeling notations that are popular, and in general, once you are comfortable with the concepts of zero, one, and many, you just need to know what symbols are used to show these in any data modeling notation.

The two most popular data modeling notations are Information Engineering (IE) and Integration Definition for Information Modeling (IDEF1X). IE notation is being used throughout this book. Figure 7.9 contrasts IE with IDEF1X notation using the prior examples from Figure 7.8.
