What Is Privacy?

The term privacy is a subjective term. There is not a single, universal definition for privacy. Let’s consider some modern history of the word.

In the 1890 issue of the Harvard Law Review an essay entitled “The Right to Privacy” by Samuel Warren and Louis Brandeis defined privacy as “the right to be let alone.” What inspired Warren and Brandeis to write such an essay?
