Chapter 1 THE NEED TO UNDERSTAND
Organizations need to thoroughly understand their data resource.
The use of an organization’s data resource to understand and support its business activities is only limited by one’s imagination. When the data resource is comparate and well understood, then one’s imagination can be limitless. However, when the data resource is disparate and not well understood, then imagination is severely constrained. Therefore, the best approach to fully support an organization’s business activities is to develop a comparate data resource that is well understood by everyone in the organization.
