Common data are the context within which all data are understood.

The data understanding process continues with the Common Data Function consisting of Common Data according to the concepts, principles, and techniques of the Common Data Architecture Paradigm.  The Common Data must have formal data names, comprehensive data definitions, proper data structure, and precise data integrity rules.  They must be developed in the sequence of business world perception, to business data schema, to logical data schema, to physical data schema.
