It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The last chapter was all about text, another of the core data types within the DAX language. In this chapter we seek to provide similar coverage of another core data type, numbers. Obviously, numbers are the foundation of nearly every business intelligence calculation, and understanding how to manipulate numbers effectively within DAX is essential for anyone building data models in Power BI. In this chapter, we take a comprehensive journey through the numeric capabilities of the DAX language, beginning with basic aggregation functions and progressing toward more nuanced operations such as standard deviation, variance, and median calculations.
