DB2 databases can be accessed by applications that run on the same machine as the database or from remote clients using a distributed connection. In addition to providing client access to a centralized database running on a server, distributed connections can also be used by database administrators (DBAs) to perform remote administrative tasks via the Control Center or the DB2 Command Line Processor (DB2 CLP).
