My collaborating authors, Peter DeLisi, Paul Kampas, and Michael Sonduck, not only contributed directly to various chapters of this book but were also invaluable in helping me to think through how to tell the DEC story. They each had different experiences and different biases but our long discussions and exchanges of phone calls and e-mails gradually enabled me to think through how best to tell the story.
