Identifying Decision Support Opportunities

Once a manager concludes it is possible to gain significant benefits, or even a competitive advantage, from building an innovative decision support capability, then it is important to initiate a systematic search process. A search can identify opportunities, significant decision process problems, and decision maker needs. As part of a search, systematic decision process audits, working with consultants, and brainstorming sessions can identify opportunities. In addition to search and investigation, some creativity and forward thinking are important in identifying opportunities.
