In this tutorial we’re going to re-create another Arctic scene. “Not another one,” I hear you cry! However, these types of scenes are entirely different in structure and, therefore, need a different technique to create such an effect. We’ll first set up the initial displacement before relaxing and deforming the geometry to suit the correct shape, finishing off the sculpting with additional Noise modifiers controlled by selections. Next we’ll design and apply the relevant materials, and finally light the scene with Mental Ray’s Daylight system and set up relevant exposure values before final rendering.
