E-mail programs store e-mail in a relatively similar fashion to how Windows stores other data; that is, all e-mail is stored in a database that consists of folders and subfolders, and those folders are stored in a specific place on the hard drive. If you work within the norms of these programs, data can be backed up fairly easily, although it will probably require quite a few more steps than you’re used to. In addition, as with “regular” data, you can create your own folders and subfolders inside your e-mail program to manage the e-mail you need to keep.
