Chapter 1: Introduction
Abstract
The evolution of cellular wireless networks is presented in this chapter, followed by the fundamental motivation to design new waveforms for a high-mobility environment. The notions of waveform orthogonality, quasi-orthognality, and biorthogonality are discussed in relation to information multiplexing and interference caused by wireless channels.
