Chapter 3: OFDM review and its limitations
Abstract
In this chapter, we review the conventional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation technique. We present the OFDM system model and frequency domain input–output relation. Then, the advantages and limitations of OFDM are discussed along with some recently proposed solutions. Finally, we discuss the specific weakness of OFDM in high-mobility multipath channels.
