However you look at it, being given the diagnosis of dementia is a bit of a hammer blow. And even though you or your close family may have had an inkling that the symptoms you were having might well have been due to this condition, the realisation that you were right all along is still very tough to take.
In the early days after diagnosis, however, you can do plenty to prepare for and even delay the arrival of the condition’s later stages and all that can come with them. Here are ten tips to think about putting into action as soon as you can.
Try to Be Accepting of Changes
You’ll definitely have started to notice that some things have become more difficult than they used to be. You may be quite forgetful at times and have missed a few appointments or regularly not bought half a dozen items on your shopping list. You may find calculations involving money trickier to work out or get lost when you’re out and about, even on well-trodden, familiar routes.
