This chapter discusses designs that allow 2^k factorial experiments to be run in blocks. When blocks (e.g., batches of raw material) are large enough, a complete replicate of the experiment may be run in each block. In unreplicated designs, at least one of the model effects will be confounded with the blocking factor: it is not possible to differentiate the confounded effect from the blocking effect.
