
As a starting point in develop-
ing an illustration style for the
season, themed to emphasize
the outdoor aspect of the the-
atergoing experience, the
designers pulled reference
images from a variety of
sources. Textural hand-drawn
and woodcut images captured
the rustic outdoor idea, as well
as the human quality of the
season’s plays. Painterly
images from the Polish poster
tradition appealed for their
dramatic sensibility.
