It is widely acknowledged that one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year (Mind, 2017), and that there is a need to take a far more proactive and preventative approach to reduce the long-term impact for people experiencing mental health problems, for their families, and to reduce costs for the National Health Service (NHS) and emergency services (NHS Independent Taskforce, 2016).
