Stage 4Technical Design
Chapter overview
Stage 4 is when the majority of design work is undertaken, although the nature of the design activity is entirely different from that in the earlier stages. At this stage, the focus is on the nitty-gritty detail required to construct the building at Stage 5. Stage 4 includes the design work of the design team as well as the design work of the specialist subcontractors, although the timing of such work will depend on how the procurement strategy influences the Project Programme and, in turn, the Stage 4 Design Programme.
