Abstract: Spoken dialog systems have been adopted across many domains and devices. However such systems are often based on a developer’s understanding of the application domain and its users. But individuals differ in their understanding of a domain and in how they prefer to do tasks. Moreover the dynamics of the domain and users will change over time. A spoken dialog system that adapts to users and is aware of domain evolution would be more likely to succeed; deployed applications should take these factors into account.
