10.1 INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, most of the connections in steel structures are carried out using welding, since it is very efficient and economical. It does not require any holes to be made in the members to be connected and it can be dispensed with extra materials like plates and angles. However, bolted connections have certain advantages over welded connections even though they require holes to be made in the parts to be connected.
