Chapter 15. Board Design for the BeagleBone Black

Now that the schematic for the BeagleBone Black (BBB) is finished, the next step is to design the board. This entails laying out the components and drawing traces between their pads. I performed most of the routing manually, and because of the thousands of pads involved, it’s a long and tedious process.

It would take an entire book to present all the details of BBB layout and routing. Instead, this chapter presents three crucial tasks:

Configuring the stackup—Why the BBB uses six copper layers for its board design and the purpose of each layer
