For decades, researchers have analyzed how students from different cultures process and retain information. Even acknowledging that there are diverse learning styles within each ethnic and racial group, researchers report that certain cultural groups maintain similar learning style characteristics. This chapter explores the intersection of culture, learning styles, and online learning. It summarizes studies exploring how students from different cultures process and retain information and suggests some applications for designing online tools to better reflect cultural needs or expectations.
