Role Modeling

Role modeling is probably better known as “leading by example.” It is the expectation that those who are in leader roles in the workplace, community, schools, clubs, and the church will set the example of how to behave properly based on personal morality, laws, and accepted social and organizational norms. Growing up, we all have had role models and those persons to whom we looked for guidance, direction, and acceptable behavior at home and in public. Early tutors of the proper example, of course, should be parents, school teachers and administrators, spiritual leaders, coaches, elected and appointed governmental and civic leaders, and those who have an influence or authority relationship with others.
