The Hybrid Matrix Reporting Structure

In the first phase of the research, conversations with managers in 30 different companies strongly suggested many firms are considering/implementing hybrid matrix reporting structures in SCMOs. Yet, the results of this survey illustrate that hybrid matrix reporting structures were relatively rare (i.e., only 11 percent of the respondents indicated using hybrid matrix reporting structures). Despite less evidence of hybrid matrix reporting structures being used in this sample, the analysis indicates that hybrid matrix structures outperform other structures for multi-business unit firms.
