Ann Blandford is Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at University College London and former Director of UCL Interaction Centre. Her first degree is in Maths (from Cambridge); her PhD is in Artificial Intelligence (from the Open University). She started her career in industry, as a software engineer, but soon moved into academia, where she developed a focus on the use and usability of computer systems. She leads research on how people interact with and make sense of information and how technology can better support people’s information needs, with a focus on situated interactions. She has over 200 international, peer-reviewed publications, including a Synthesis Lecture on “Interacting with Information.”
