The third ELVIS Design Matrix element also crosses all transformative experiences. It is the degree and type of immersion an experience includes (see figure 13). Generally speaking, the greater the immersion, the more powerful the experience. There are two broad categories for this experiential variable that I use in my ELVIS designs, and both contribute to immersive experiences: multisensory immersion and imaginative immersion. Since the senses are more straightforward, let’s begin with them.
