Chapter 14 The Dance of the Stakeholders
In the previous chapters, you have learned what the necessary preliminaries are for a family@business when the time has come for the next generation. The Founders-Owners and the Next Gen did the necessary preparatory work, as you have seen in the previous chapters. This process obviously is not linear. Like all of the succession processes, it is incremental and stochastic: it proceeds with steps that follow each other in an unpredictable manner. Sometimes there is a standstill, sometimes there are giant leaps, sometimes it is as if nothing happens, and then suddenly major changes emerge.
