7. Working with Metadata
In previous chapters, you saw how to add view states to your component, create transitions, and harness the effects classes within the Flex framework. Before we start working with data, let’s pause and look at the third language within the Flex framework: metadata.
Although it’s not actually a language, without metadata, you would need to write an awful lot more code to achieve the same results. The funny thing about metadata
is that we’ve all used it, but I doubt we’ve ever paused for more than a second to contemplate how it works and how you can create your own tags. Well, this chapter looks at that whole process.
