Jill Owen, PhD, was the driving intellectual force behind this book, contributing much until her untimely death in 2013. Her research focused on the project as a vehicle for organizing work and, specifically, on the role of knowledge-based practices and informal processes in influencing how an organization operates. Her PhD, undertaken in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University, is titled The Role of Knowledge Based Practices in the Effective Management and Delivery of Information Systems Development Projects.
