9 Observability
Observability is an attribute of a system, rather than something you do. It is a system’s ability to be monitored, tracked, and analyzed. Any application worthy of production should be observable. Your main goal in observing a system is to discern what it is doing, internally. You do this by analyzing system outputs like metrics, traces, and logs. Metrics usually consist of data over time that provide key insights into an application’s health and/or performance.
