The main reason why I have decided to start this section of the book off with a look at cutting, copying, pasting, and moving is because these are the most fundamental (and therefore widely used) editing techniques in use today. This makes a lot of sense, considering the history of audio editing that we looked at in the very first chapter. But there is more to it than that, because, without getting your basic edits right in the first place, all of the other more-elaborate techniques described later will be harder to work on.
