Introduction
Research plays both a necessary and critical role in all scientific endeavours, from its beginnings in ancient Greece and Rome, where deductive logic (the drawing of conclusions based only on a set of premises) was first refined as a science, through to modern-day forensic laboratories (Franceschetti, 2017). Without the research performed by individual scientists and organisations into audio forensics, no such field would exist.
