Texting (SMS) and messaging (MMS) are similar and can be used similarly in many use cases; however, the two have vastly different purposes. SMS stands for Short Message Service, which allows the user to send and receive text messages from their mobile device. MMS Stands for Multimedia Messaging Service, which can be used for sending and receiving photos, audio files, video files, and other large files.

Messaging apps are different from SMS in that they can act as an application on your phone to send messages (voice, text) to friends or family both domestically and internationally.
