The technology behind modern video dates back to when film was the only viable method of capturing and presenting the moving image. Many people today refer to video as a film while, in fact, there is a vast difference between actual photographic motion picture film and the modern video. Suffice it to say that the older terminology has been adopted to suit our modern methods.
