Light is the origin of all art. Without light nothing is visible. That might sound like an obvious thing to say, but think about it for a moment. Light allows us to see what we are looking towards, what shape it is, how far away it is, what it is made of and what it might be reflecting. No small feat! To be able to recognize light as the origin of what we visualize is truly fundamental to a greater understanding of why everything we see appears the way it does. In turn, this produces a built-in ability to re-create lighting circumstances and effects that look believable and compelling, and capture the imagination and attention of a viewer.
