Paint on Separate Layers
Painting special effects onto a piece or adding brushstrokes with special brush modes (such as Dodge) can be quite daunting because it has an impact on the canvas underneath. It is possible to set up layers, however, so you can paint in the style you want on a separate layer.
1. Start With the Original ImageStart with a crop from an existing image. The buildings have some subtle lighting effects that simulate windows and other shapes. Now imagine you want to experiment with additional lights but not lose the integrity of what is already there.
