The “Bottom” Line

Here’s the short form: The most important thing is to have lots of memory, as much as you can afford. Next comes plenty of fast hard disk space and media to archive data off site (external or removable hard drives or CDs and DVDs). Spend your money on these priorities instead of buying a faster computer.

For your display spend a little more. Don’t get the cheapest LCD on the shelf. For scanning prints in and printing out your finished restorations, you don’t need to spend more than $250 to $500 apiece on a flatbed scanner or printer.
